Accessing the plug-in

Right click does work … Idiot Me! I got 99% of the way there and had a cerebral hemorrhage. CodeLurker is correct in that I just dropped a binary into my src dir and tried to open from the File menu, never thinking to try right clicking on it. I'm an old dog trying to learn new tricks. Retired from firmware engineering (C/C++) years ago and decided recently to teach myself Java and see if I could do some application things for myself and it's interesting. I agree with CodeLurker that your plug-in looks very helpful HajdaMCZ, and thanks to both of you for your help.

How to run it

I edited introduction. I hope it's more understandable now.

How to run it

The first time I tried it, it worked. I just so happened to right-click on a file in a project tree. Thus, it appears you must have created a project and added the file you want to edit to it, in order to use it. It would be helpful if there were a more direct method; but from what I can tell of it so far, it appears quite nice. It even edits in octal and binary. It also allows you to set one of a large palette of character encodings.

I installed DeltaHexEditor but I don't see how to run it

I installed DeltaHexEditor. The Netbeans IDE (8.2) Plugins/Installed tab now shows it there and checked active, but I've seen no means to use it.
The comment under "Introduction" says "Use "Open as Hex" context menu item to edit files in projects." I assume that means I should see an "Open as Hex" item in the list of options under the 'File' menu on the IDE but I do not. Am I misunderstanding your instructions or is there something wrong? This is the first time I have tried to install and use a plugin so the possibility that I am doing something wrong is high.
